About me

Liliya Syvytska is an emerging Ukrainian Film Director and actress who found her deep connection for filmmaking in early childhood. She is celebrated for her poetic and unfiltered style of directing evident in her compelling documentary and experimental works. With a keen focus on how communities navigate cultural and political transformations and their impact on individuals, Liliya's artistry captures the intricacies of human connection with empathy and unwavering honesty. Her works present a deep and immersive experience for audiences, allowing them to observe and connect with the stories depicted on screen on a profound level.

Since her arrival to Vancouver for the UBC Film Production Program, Liliya finished VIFF catalyst mentorship program. After the first month of full-scale war in her home country, she came back to Ukraine and filmed life after Russian occupation in the Chernihiv region and other places. Her photo exhibition and film will be presented in Polygon Art Gallery. In 2023 she joined charitable foundation Art Shield as one of its key members, which mission is to support and film Ukrainian theatres in times of war.

Furthermore, Liliya continues to perform on screen and appeared in various short films (Another and str.), commercial (CiBC) and debut in a feature film in one of the leading roles in Soft spoken weepy cult child, shown at Whistler Film Festival.
